Becoming successful in business is always a double-edged sword. On the one hand, you’ve got more money coming in and more opportunities for growth as you continue to rise. On the other hand, you’ve got a lot more responsibilities and things competing for your valuable time.
If time is money, then you need to learn how to free up as much of it as possible by delegating or outsourcing tasks that take you away from your work.

Learning from Celebrities about Work Life Balance
By David B. Bohl | June 4, 2008 | No Responses Yet
Suzanne Somers used to work 16 hours a day, six days a week, but not anymore. “It’s not worth dying over business,” she says. “They’re not going to say at my funeral, ‘and she worked harder than anyone.’” Somers, a former star on Three’s Company, is now a best-selling author and the entrepreneur behind ThighMaster and about a dozen clothing, jewelry, food and beauty lines. Along the way, she’s learned to delegate. Trusting her team to do their part allows her to write books, and create and sell products.
Actress Mandy Moore credits her family and friends with keeping her grounded as she grew up in the spotlight. Being grounded and balanced is important to her, so much so that she chairs uPumpItUp.com, a site aimed at helping women balance their lives. Moore wants women to realize that they’re worthy of taking time for themselves. “Having that sense of balance in life between personal and all that other stuff is kind of essential to leading a happy life,” she says.
Francis Ford Coppola doesn’t believe in a life half-lived. His advice is to “only do it if you have the passion for it. Only do anything for that reason.” Read Post

5 Ways to Reduce Tax Stress Next Year
By David B. Bohl | April 10, 2008 | 6 Responses
It’s April and that groaning sound you’re hearing is the collective teeth-gnashing and hair-pulling of families all across America facing what is very likely the most stressful time of the year (outside of Christmas, perhaps) - tax time.
If you have few assets or investments, a simple W-2 job, and no children, tax time can be little more than an inconvenience. But for everyone else, it’s a major headache. Between hunting up long-lost receipts, worrying about what you might owe and the fear of what happens if you do something wrong, preparing your taxes can feel as stressful and fraught with risk as robbing a heavily-guarded bank with an unloaded water pistol.
This close to the deadline, there’s probably not a lot you can do to offset the stress for the current year. But if you find yourself filled with dread every time April comes around, here are a few tips that can make it easier next time.
TIM FERRISS INTERVIEW: 7 Reflections with Tim Ferriss, Author of The 4 - Hour Workweek
By David B. Bohl | May 16, 2007 | No Responses Yet
I find Tim Ferriss to be a fascinating guy. He speaks six languages and runs a multinational firm as he travels the globe. He’s a national kick boxing champion and the first American to hold a world record in the tango. So you might wonder how the heck any of these things qualify him to write the book The 4-Hour Workweek. It’s all about one little thing and that thing is the fact that he is doing what he wants when he wants! He has figured out how to support his lifestyle from anywhere. I recommend that anyone who is, or who has ever felt, overworked, overburdened, and overwhelmed read Tim’s book.
Have We Heard the Last About Outsourcing?

How would you feel about working two days a week and having the other five off? According to The Five Day Weekend Movement that’s exactly what the goal is. Doesn’t that seem a bit extreme? It appears that each year people are working more and more which results in overwork. Here are just a couple of stats to give you something to think about - More than 570 million vacation days in 2006 were wasted by Americans, U.S. workers use about 10 vacation days a year when on average they are given 14 days. In an attempt to stop this trend and reverse it The Five Day Weekend Movement is aiming and going for a Five Day Weekend.

Outsource Your Life Balance? - Revisited
By David B. Bohl | May 2, 2007 | No Responses Yet
I needed to revisit the topic of outsource your life balance because I don’t think I was clear in my first post, Outsource Your Life Balance, due to the comments and responses I received. I don’t mean that outsourcing tasks in and of itself is a bad thing. We all do it, from sending our clothes to the dry cleaners to making repairs in and around our homes. What I mean is that what concerns me is when those offering their services, such as personal assistants, assert that outsourcing is the secret to life balance. Read Post
