5 Ways to Reduce Tax Stress Next Year

istock_000005363862xsmall.jpgIt’s April and that groaning sound you’re hearing is the collective teeth-gnashing and hair-pulling of families all across America facing what is very likely the most stressful time of the year (outside of Christmas, perhaps) – tax time.

If you have few assets or investments, a simple W-2 job, and no children, tax time can be little more than an inconvenience. But for everyone else, it’s a major headache. Between hunting up long-lost receipts, worrying about what you might owe and the fear of what happens if you do something wrong, preparing your taxes can feel as stressful and fraught with risk as robbing a heavily-guarded bank with an unloaded water pistol.

It appears that each year people are working more and more which results in overwork. Here are just a couple of stats to give you something to think about – More than 570 million vacation days in 2006 were wasted by Americans, U.S. workers use about 10 vacation days a year when on average they are given 14 days. In an attempt to stop this trend and reverse it The Five Day Weekend Movement is aiming and going for a Five Day Weekend.

Outsource Your Life Balance? – Revisited

I needed to revisit the topic of outsource your life balance because I don’t think I was clear in my first post, Outsource Your Life Balance, due to the comments and responses I received.  I don’t mean that outsourcing tasks in and of itself is a bad thing.  We all do it, from sending our clothes to the dry cleaners to making repairs in and around our homes.  What I mean is that what concerns me is when those offering their services, such as personal assistants, assert that outsourcing is the secret to life balance.
