Ellen,

Thanks for visiting and contributing your thoughts.

Guilt certainly often turns into regret, and it's our regrets, usually about things we didn't do, that often dominate our thinking.

Hi David,

Just caught your post on FitBuff carnival, in which I am also participating. (I am actually a coach too, but in a different category.

I love that Hebrew saying at the beginning - it really made my day. One thing I believe, is that guilt keeps us from enjoying the moment. It is always whispering in our ear (or yelling at us) about what we didn't get done, what we should have said to so-and-so, and all sorts of baseless drivel.

Your post reminds us to ALLOW ourselves to generously enjoy the delight that presents itself to us, so often flung away.

I also liked your comment about 'moderation in all things, even moderation.' Very wise!

"Being there for the events that matter to your children, taking time to simply be with your spouse, joining your friends on outings or just hanging out - all of these should be the point of your life, not the perks for a job well done." Isn't that really what gives life meaning. Well said, David.

We have to allow ourselves pleasure (of a good kind of course). I need to be reminded of that often. Balance is the key - Work and pleasure, Finding a happy medium will bring lots of gusto to life.

R.J.,

Thank you for weighing in.

I learned the following a few years back:

"Sometimes, just the idea of doing something different, something I am not accustomed to doing, can eventually become and act of faith if I do it regularly and do it without debating if it's the right thing to do.

The more I'm willing to act differently, the more exciting life is." ~ Daily Reflections, April 10

David
Thoroughly enjoyed your post this morning! As usual, you have taken the complexities of my life and shown me a simpler way.
I especially like the idea of asking "why not" instead of "why". One leads me in a positive direction, the other towards negative energy.
And just thinking of doing one new thing today has opened my eyes to how much I miss by unconsciously following a routine without even giving it any thought.
As your blogs so often show me..."less is more".
