Rise Above Economic
Uncertainty to Learn, Grow
Life-draining news of sagging economy and price hikes can be the perfect time to recommit to continued education, reconnect with people
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Gas prices have reached all-time highs. Mortgage foreclosures continue to climb nationwide. Economists debate daily whether we’re in a recession. The news makes even the wealthy worry about the future. It makes the most positive people want to pull the sheets over their heads and sleep through the tribulations.
“Don’t!” said David Bohl, lifestyle mentor (slowdownfast.com) and former venture capitalist. “It is absolutely frightening to face the unknown and feel like we have no control. Our response to these times may show you, however, that we have more control than we think. This is a time to take advantage of all that’s worrisome and make things better for now and the future.”
Bohl, who works with entrepreneurs and corporate executives from throughout the world, says that life-draining hardships can be transformed into life-building exercises. By following tips on how to deal with adversity, people emerge from things like a poor economy and mass layoffs, stronger and better able to face the days ahead.
- Expand your education. Resolve to never stop learning. If you are passionate about your field or career, take every opportunity to continue your education and stay on top of changes in your industry. This will ultimately make you more marketable and self-confident.
- Form tighter bonds. Network and reconnect with your community. During the good times, you may have let some business relationships go by the wayside. Seek out people who made a positive impact on your life and with whom you’ve shared productive discussion.
- Rally your family. Even the most distant families can create solutions, grow and learn as a unit. In the end, you and your family will be stronger that you were going into the situation and be better prepared for the next obstacle.
- Recommit to dreams and goals. Read, listen to others and open up to possibilities you may not have allowed yourself to consider in the past because you were too busy trying to maintain a bountiful life.
“We are programmed to be challenged and many of us thrive under pressure,” Bohl said. “Don’t be afraid to talk with others you respect and get their ideas and input. Support is key to surviving tough times. Tomorrow may bring adversity, but when you face it head on, you can make sure it’s short lived.”
A lifestyle mentor who works with clients worldwide, Bohl experienced capitalism as a high-speed, high-stressed global investor.Once smothered by his own success, Bohl’s goal is to help others dissect the maze of advice materials that line bookshelves, and use them productively.
