I believe that many North Americans try to "do" Europe in a couple of weeks and end up actually seeing very little. Isn't it better to see one region or country in some depth than a mad dash around the tourist traps? I also think that we don't appreciate what's on our doorstep. Although I'm Scottish and have lived in Scotland for most of my life I discovered a lot when I began researching for my online guides. It was my first ever meditation retreat in a luxurious resort environment, with beautiful gardens and on a beachfront. No motorised sports are allowed here; almost everything is eco-friendly.
