I agree that we must do what&#039;s right as life unfolds for our children.  I quantify it as &#039;doing the next right thing.&#039;  It has worked for me and my kids, and your son has certainly learned this from you. Congratulations in teaching your son well.

I read this post with tears in my eyes. I believe that as parents most of us do what we think is right as we go along. When they step out on their own they should be their own person of course but it is wonderful to see/hear some of what we showed them come back in another form.
Just this weekend my son stepped in to break up a fight in the street. When he told me I was torn between being proud of him and thinking of how much of a risk he had taken. But he is a good decent human being and he could not stand by and see someone being hurt (like the others around who did nothing - their choice too of course).
