He was the PR man for THE Grand Hotel on the Island, where the hopelessly romantic film "Somewhere in Time" (with Christopher Reeves) was filmed. Saunterers were encouraged to take a spin up and down the Grand Hotel's front porch, which was (is?) the longest front porch on a summer resort hotel. Sauntering was particularly applicable because no cars are allowed on Mackinac Island; only bicycles and horses.
